I’m Marisha, a Dutch–Indonesian goldsmith and founder of Atelier May, a cozy jewelry studio in the heart of Amsterdam, just behind Leidseplein and Vondelpark. The name was inspired by my daughter, May, who shares my love for creativity and jewelry making.
After graduating by Bachelor Degree in Commercial Economics, I didn’t know what I wanted to do.
I started working at Gassan Diamonds, where I fell in love with the craft of goldsmithing and the beauty of gemstones. After Gassan Diamonds, I started working at Vedder & Vedder where I also learned some of the basics of goldsmithing and assembling jewelry.
These experience inspired me to learn the trade from a local goldsmith, and what began as a small hobby soon grew into my greatest passion, and eventually into Atelier May.
Today, I share that passion through jewelry making workshops in Amsterdam, where people from all over the world create their own handmade silver or solid gold rings or silver clay pendants.
Many visitors join while exploring the city and leave with a unique souvenir: a piece of jewelry made entirely by themselves.
For me, goldsmithing is about more than just jewelry. It’s about slowing down, working with your hands, and turning raw silver or gold into something meaningful and lasting, a memory you can wear or pass down through generations.
At Atelier May, every silver, solid gold or silver clay workshop is a cosy, hands-on, and inspiring experience. You’ll learn real goldsmithing techniques, guided step by step, and leave with a creation that’s truly yours.
Join our workshop and fall in love with the art of goldsmithing. XX Marisha from Atelier May Amsterdam
